I recently traveled to the Dominican Republic and had an incredible stay at two luxury resorts. From championship golf and stunning villas to five-star dining and private beaches, the Dominican Republic offered beautiful, secure surroundings and exceptional service throughout. If you are considering a trip to the DR, you won’t want to miss these standout properties!
I started my trip in Cap Cana, a beautiful gated community just 15 minutes from Punta Cana Airport. It is one of the safest and most upscale areas in the Dominican Republic and home to some of my favorite resorts, including Eden Roc Cap Cana, Secrets Cap Cana, St Regis Cap Cana, and the Hyatt Ziva and Zilara complex. Each one delivers amazing service, elevated amenities, and beautiful private beaches. Since only guests and residents can access the beaches, you never encounter crowds, beach vendors, or outside foot traffic, keeping the area peaceful and very secure.

Eden Roc Cap Cana
Eden Roc Cap Cana is one of those resorts that feels special the moment you arrive. Tucked inside the private gates of Cap Cana, the atmosphere is beautiful and serene, and it honestly feels like a secluded resort in Hawaii. The property offers a mix of freestanding bungalows, oceanfront hotel rooms, spacious one and two-bedroom beachfront suites with private pools, and beautifully designed villas. It has a quiet, upscale feel, with plenty of room to spread out and enjoy a truly relaxing stay. We loved the private beach club, the stunning oceanfront pool, and the easy access to golf and dining.

We stayed in a luxury pool one-bedroom villa with a large living room, incredible indoor and outdoor showers, and a private pool. The villa included a private golf cart, which was perfect for exploring the resort.
Eden Roc is part of Relais & Châteaux, a collection of independent luxury hotels and restaurants known for exceptional service and outstanding cuisine. From our poolside breakfast to the oceanfront dinner at La Palapahe, every staff member focused on creating a stay that felt intimate and truly memorable rather than a one-size-fits-all luxury experience.

St Regis Cap Cana
The new St Regis Cap Cana is absolutely stunning! Located directly next door to Eden Roc Cap Cana, it’s fresh, modern, and one of the most exciting additions to the region. Guests enjoy spacious suites, exceptional dining, a gorgeous beach, and the signature St. Regis Butler Service, which adds a personal touch to every stay. We enjoyed a perfectly prepared espresso martini at the St Regis bar, followed by an incredible dinner at Marola Mediterranean Grill. The Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course is breathtaking, with most holes either on the ocean or offering incredible ocean views. It is truly one of the most beautiful courses we have ever experienced! The St. Regis Cap Cana stands out for its ease, beauty, and relaxed atmosphere, with exceptional service that makes you feel completely taken care of.

Secrets Cap Cana
Secrets Cap Cana is a great adults-only option for an easy, all-inclusive getaway without sacrificing luxury. It’s been a favorite for my honeymoon clients and those celebrating a special anniversary. For something extra special, the Preferred Club bungalows offer swim-out suites with a more private, boutique feel. It features an exceptional spa with a relaxing outdoor hydrotherapy circuit and lively nightly entertainment. This resort is safe, beautifully maintained, and ideal for couples or friends who simply want to unwind.

Hyatt Ziva and Zilara Cap Cana
Hyatt Ziva and Zilara Cap Cana are such fun and easy options, whether you are planning a family vacation or an adults-only trip. It can be hard to find a family-friendly all-inclusive with great food, comfortable accommodations, and elevated service, but Hyatt Ziva checks all the boxes. Ziva is ideal for families thanks to its amazing pools, water park, and wide variety of dining options, including a new hidden speakeasy. Zilara offers a quieter, adults-only atmosphere right next door. Since they share many amenities, you truly get the best of both worlds. The beaches are gorgeous, the service is consistently strong, and everything feels new. My clients love that the beaches are private, so you don’t need to worry about vendors or outside visitors while enjoying the calm, blue Caribbean water and beautiful, wide stretch of beach.

Casa de Campo
After our time in Cap Cana, we traveled south to La Romana to finish our trip at Casa de Campo, which is truly its own destination. Spread across seven thousand acres, the resort has everything, including beautiful beaches, a marina, an equestrian center, polo fields, a shooting range, the largest racquet center in the Caribbean, and three legendary golf courses, including the famous Teeth of the Dog. You can be as active or relaxed as you want. Spend the day in the sun at Minitas Beach, or explore Altos de Chavon, the resort’s charming replica Mediterranean village perched above the river.

For an elevated stay, the Premier Club offers a boutique, exclusive feel within the larger resort. We loved the upgraded rooms, private lounge, premium drinks, and dedicated concierge services. The luxury villas at Casa de Campo take it even further, with private pools, spacious indoor and outdoor living spaces, and exceptional service, making them perfect for multigenerational family vacations. Each villa includes its own butler and daily housekeeping team, making the stay feel completely effortless. Each morning, breakfast is prepared in your villa, and the incredible staff takes care of every detail, from setup to cleanup, so you can relax and enjoy your time together.

If you prefer a seamless and worry-free stay, the all-inclusive package is a great fit. It includes dining at a variety of restaurants, unlimited drinks, and access to many of the resort’s activities, making it easy to simply relax and enjoy everything Casa de Campo has to offer. We tried out the skeet shooting, played pickleball, took out the Hobie cats and paddleboards, and spent time checking out the incredible yachts at the marina. Every room at Casa de Campo includes a private golf cart, making it easy to explore all that the resort has to offer.

Arriving and Departing Punta Cana
Arrivals and departures were incredibly easy at Punta Cana International Airport. It is one of the most modern and efficient airports in the Caribbean. My clients love the VIP arrival and departure service. Upon arrival, guests are met at the plane, escorted through a dedicated fast-track immigration and customs line, assisted with luggage, and taken directly to their private transfer. Upon departure, you are escorted through security, assisted with check-in, and welcomed into the VIP lounge, featuring an outdoor pool, comfortable seating, and premium food and drinks.
